I know I have been behind all summer on updating and I do apologize. Most of you know you can phone me and order with credit card, if you are lucky enough to get me on a day when I can actually stop making DVDs and answer it.

I just wanted to let you know the Show Me 100 and the DREAM are now up. I have 3 races up we did from the UMP Summernationals - KLMS, Kamp and Tri-State. Then there are the 6 nights of WoO Races from their Great Northern Tour which included Port Royal, Ohsweken, Auto Drummond, Cornwall, Canandaigu and Big Diamond.

I will be working on the others as soon as Steve has them finalized for me to duplicate. He did nights of the WoO Late Model Wild West Tour, plus Eldora, Muskingum and Eriez. He did the WoO Sprints at K C Raceway and at Attica and Eldora, I will try and get them up for you Sprint Fans. Then he came home and did Winchester and Bedfords Lucas Oil shows. He went back for the rained out Firecracker at Lernerville and he just got home a few hours from doing the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway along with the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony which saw one of our local drivers/friend Gary Stuhler be placed alongside some of the best in the country.

ASCS Rebel Region Wraps Up Season This Weekend at East Bay

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (November 6, 2007) – The biggest year in American Sprint Car Series history comes to a conclusion this weekend at the same place it started, Tampa, Florida's East Bay Raceway Park.

The year kicked off with the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series atop the 1/3-mile, semi-banked clay oval. Now, more than nine months later, the ASCS Rebel Region brings the curtain down on the 2007 season with two nights of action at East Bay Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday nights.

And the leading candidate to add his name to the illustrious list of 2007 ASCS champions is Pierson, Florida's T.J. Winegardner, who enters the two-night stand with a 30-point advantage in the Rebel Region points race.

Winegardner hopes to add his name to this year's list of ASCS champions that includes Gary Wright (National), Jeremy Sherman (Canyon), Michael Dupuy (Coastal), Brandon Berryman (Gulf South), Tim Hogue (Mid-Atlantic), Natalie Sather (Midwest), Lee Grosz (Northern Plains), Chuck Hebing (Patriots), C.J. Johnson (Rocky Mountain), Brian McClelland (Sooner), Brian Smith (Southern) and Tim Norman (Sprints on Dirt).

But, waiting in the wings in the event the 23-year-old Winegarnder stubs his toe on either of the two nights is Brian Thomas of Pendergrass, GA. Thomas is just 30 points out of the lead entering this weekend's double.

Other top ASCS Rebel Region contenders expected for the weekend include third-ranked Tyler Godwin of Lutz, FL, along with the Malabar, FL, father-son duo of Kenny Adams and Bryn Gohn.

The stout field of expected entries will be vying for some added stakes as well, as C&B Mushroom Farms of Avondale, PA, has posted a $500 bonus on both nights for any driver that can win the feature event after also winning either his heat race or a "B" Main. The posted bonus bumps the possible winner's share to $2,000 on Friday night and $2,500 on Saturday night.

East Bay Raceway Park is located in Tampa, FL, off I-75 Exit 250, then two miles west, then 1.2 miles north on US 41, then right 1.3 miles on Old US 41 to Burts Road. For more information, contact the track at 813-677-7223.

The inaugural season of racing action for the ASCS Rebel Region has consisted of eleven events thus far at nine different tracks throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, with nine different drivers reaching victory lane. Adams and Michael Dupuy have each scored two Rebel Region wins, with single wins posted by Terry Gray, Wade Oliver, Matt Tiffany, Brad Bowden, Marshall Skinner, Lee Sowell and Jason Johnson.

In its 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing throughout the nation, the American Sprint Car Series has completed 187 nights of racing action at 90 different tracks throughout 25 different states as well as the Canadian province of Ontario. Another 44 nights of action were lost to rain and inclement weather.

LATE MODELS ADDED TO SUNDAY NIGHT CARD AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY FOR 2008

FRANKLIN, PA .. Tri-City Speedway officials announced this weekend that Late Models have been added to the weekly Sunday night card at the Venango County half-mile oval. The Late Models will join the E Mods, Pro Stocks and "Sunday Night Thunder" Cars in 2008.
In the near future, Tri-City Co-Promoters Mike Graham and Roger Crick will decide upon one more weekly division. Still under consideration are the Super Sprints, Super Late Models, Big Block Modifieds and Small Block Modifieds.
"We believe that we need to focus on the future of racing at Tri-City, not the past," said Graham. "After examining all of our options, we have concluded that adding Late Models to the weekly card will produce the best show, and provide our drivers and race teams the ability to continue to compete in an affordable division, and our fans will be able to continue to watch their local heroes."
Tri-City's Late Model division will be based on economical motor rules with certain restrictions. Teams will be allowed to use GM 602 or 604 engines. The remainder of the Late Model rules will be published at a later date.
"At this time, we have not committed to sanction our Late Models with FASTRAK," added Graham. "Although that is still an option, we know that many, many race teams have been holding off on decisions for their 2008 season while waiting for our announcement. Now, those teams can move forward with their plans. Likewise, we are currently working on sponsorship for the Late Model division and we will be able to make a further announcement at a later date."
The Late Models appear to be the wave of the future in the region as the division continues to grow in popularity. The Late Model division that will compete at Tri-City races under similar rules at Mercer Raceway Park, Raceway 7, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, McKean County Raceway and Dog Hollow Speedway. The Super Late Models also compete annually at Tri-City's Oil Region Labor Day Classic under the sanction of the World of Outlaws. The Super Late Models last competed at Tri-City on a weekly basis in 1997. Robbie Blair was the track champion a decade ago.
Having a significant impact on Graham and Crick's decision was the fact that a number of local drivers and teams are expected to compete in the class. Scott and Chad Myers, Bobby Powell and Stephen Hollabaugh, and Dave Ferry should return to competition at Tri-City. E Mod track champion Carl McKinney will now be able to race in two divisions. Other drivers rumored to have expressed interest in racing Late Models at Tri-City include Super Late Model racers Robbie Blair, Dick Barton, Brent Rhebergen, Matt Lux and Darrell Bossard. Other E Mod and Pro Stock drivers that have indicated that they want to move into the Late Model division include Pro Stock track champion Doug Iorio II, Bobby Whitling, Jason Reagle, Andy Buckley and Russ Coyne.
Graham and Crick continue to solicit comments from racers and fans about divisions and special events, and everyone is encouraged to contact them via e-mail at speedway@tricityspeedway.com.

Tri-City Speedway is owned and operated by Roger and Susie Crick and Mike and Margaret Graham. They have promoted Sunday night racing at the popular facility since they reopened it in 1996. The Late Models, E Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars race each week at the Venango County half-mile dirt oval. Tri-City is located seven miles north of Franklin, Pa., off State Route 417.

I hope everyone has been enjoying watching the video from Pennsboro. Remember to visit www.DTWC.net to purchase your tickets for this years's 25th Anniversary of the DTWC to be held at K-C Raceway.

We also have a video up showing how fast and racy the track at K-C Raceway can be. If you haven't watched this video yet, take a look.

For those of you haven't seen "The Magic of Pennsboro", click on the video under "Special Series" then either see what you missed or take a trip down memory lane! Remember walking down the rocky road and getting to the tunnel entrance and having to wade across to check out the newest Annual DTWC t-shirt. Then slopping thru the mud to get to the infield to check out the who's who of dirt late model racing as they worked on their cars. Or climbing the hill to get your favorite grassy spot or putting your blanket on one of the rickety old bleachers. Smelling the good smells of people BBQ'g or the not so sweet smells of the sani-pots and hoping you didn't have to do #2 till you got home:-)

Then the cars were coming out for hot laps. And the place just came alive, you forgot about the mud and the bad smell for this was the DTWC. The place to be in October.

410 Sprints @ East Bay on 2/15/1997

The finale night of racing for the 410 Sprints on 2/15/1997 was also the final night for the Prevatt family at East Bay. Mrs. Prevatt took to the track's victory lane to thank the fans and drivers alike for all the years they had supported her late husband Lonnie and her family at the track that her husband helped build and run. Sit back and enjoy the race from that night.

Great Race!

I wanted to send someone a DVD today of some good and recent racing. Steve has been recommending 2-12-05 East Bay as the best so far. But that changed after Challenger Raceway held their 3rd Annual Springfest on Sunday 17 April 2005. I have only watched some of the footage Doug got from his position in the infield, but what I saw was great! The late models were 4 and 5 wide almost every lap I watched. I hope I have time to sit down and watch the entire feature once Steve gets it finalized. So should you be looking for one of those that people will be talking about purchase your copy today.
